Heading through the Hampshire countryside near Reading, I noticed autumn was starting to creep in as I drove to Laura and Chris's wedding at Silchester Farm. The venue looked fantastic from a distance, and it was already obvious the couple had put a lot of thought into the day.
Chris looked smart in his black tie outfit, but Laura was stunning. Her dress was beautiful - really flowing and elegant. It was perfect for her and worked so well at this lovely venue.
They'd picked one of Silchester Farm's barns for the ceremony, and it had this great mix of rustic and refined. The Wessex Flower Company had done an amazing job - flowers everywhere! Laura and Chris said their vows under these lovely flower arches, both grinning away. The confetti bit in the courtyard after was fantastic - confetti everywhere!
Now, here's where it got interesting. We snuck off for some portraits, and wouldn't you know it, the sky opened up! We ended up dashing to this old Dutch barn nearby. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise - the light in there was incredible. We thought we'd outsmarted the rain, but it caught us on the way back. We got a bit soggy, but couldn't stop laughing about it.
The rain did make for some pretty spectacular lighting though. One minute it was pouring, the next there were these amazing sunbeams breaking through the clouds. Made this Silchester Farm wedding venue look almost magical.
The reception was in the cow shed (yes, really!) and it was brilliant. Laura and Chris's entrance was epic - they danced in while everyone waved their napkins like crazy. The speeches had us all in stitches one minute and reaching for tissues the next. The team at Silchester had set everything up beautifully for the wedding breakfast.
Oh, and I finally got to use this spot I've been eyeing up for ages - a road lined with pine trees leading to Silchester Farm. Got a great shot of Laura and Chris walking there. One of my favs.
Some of my other favourite bits! Chris rocking out with the band at the end of the night, bridesmaids doing shots while serenading guests (hilarious), and the groom's mum making friends with a very sociable pig during a visit to the farm animals.
The food was also bloody fantastic, so many guests kept talking about how good it was and they weren't wrong. On the dance floor one of the bridal party brought out a box of fancy dress gear! Before you knew it, the dance floor was full of people in feathers, daft hats, and ridiculous outfits.
You could see Laura and Chris were completely in love throughout the day. Every little glance they gave each other, these two were 100% meant to be together. As the celebration continued late into the night, with the raucous band keeping people moving and smiling, with Laura and Chris staying right in the centre of things with their friends and family all clearly having the time of their lives!
Going through the photos afterwards, I reckon Silchester Farm might be one of my favorite venues now! From the beautiful flowers at the ceremony to the speeches in the cow shed and the mental party that followed, it was completely Laura and Chris's day. The Silchester team really knows how to put on a proper celebration.
I hope you enjoy taking a browse through Laura & Chris’ Silchester farm wedding. If you love this then definitely go check out Jojo & Marley’s river wedding in Windsor or another black tie wedding in Devon.
