DESTINATION / PORTUGAL

Portugal has to be my new favourite place for destination weddings!

So I take it you're looking for a Portugal wedding photographer? Well, I'm hoping you like my style of wedding photography because I would love to return to my new favourite country in the world. I remember travelling to Portugal as a kid, I loved it then, but I had no idea I would be returning to do the job I adore.

I've done a few weddings across the country; from the Algarve on the southern coastline to Lisbon and its surrounding countryside with beautiful vineyards, and then further north near Porto in the Douro Valley. It's a surprising place every time I visit the country. For weddings, it's a great idea for a destination wedding, beautiful weather, delicious food and a cheaper alternative to Italy perhaps. For photography, it is also wonderful, bright colourful buildings and rich blue skies that make photos come alive on both screen and print.

Lisbon

Lisbon is an adventurous, romantic, and vibrant city that is ideal for those who love 'getting lost' and exploring its many winding, cobblestoned streets either in search for the perfect Pastéis de Nata, a romantic meal in a restaurant, or stunning sunsets and views of the Tagus River. In the summer, the city comes alive with street artists and live music, and as I've experienced firsthand, it has its own delightful charms and a never-lacking party atmosphere in the winter too. Absolutely unforgettable!

Douro Valley

I can't tell you how much I fell in love with the Douro valley went I went to photograph a wedding last year! A hidden gem nestled in the heart of Northern Portugal is a place of natural beauty and wine culture. As I drove through the winding roads, I fell in love with lush green vineyards and rolling hills but especially at sunset, casting a golden glow over the landscape, making it seem like a scene straight out of a painting. One of my favourite wedding venues in the area is the magnificent Six Senses, a perfect luxurious place to get married with all your friends & family.

The Algarve

The Algarve is one of the most perfect places for holidays but it definitely shouldn't be forgotten about when it comes to weddings. From its picturesque beaches and crystal-clear waters to its charming villages and historic landmarks, there is something for everyone in this southernmost region of Portugal. With an array of coastal towns and cities from Faro the capital, Portimão, Lagos to historic towns such Silves. All of these cities offer a unique experience and different activities, but they all share one common denominator, the beautiful beaches and the sea. It is a location where your wedding guests can enjoy not only the wedding but a mini holiday as well.

Porto

Porto, a city of winding streets, charming architecture, and vibrant culture. Known for its historic old town, picturesque streets, and delicious port wine, Porto is a city that will leave a lasting impression on all who visit but 100% will be a wedding to remember. The city's Ribeira district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a maze of narrow streets and colourful houses that seem to cling to the steep hillside. One of my favourite parts of Porto was the intricately designed ceramic tiles adorning buildings throughout the city, known as 'azulejos' they're simply stunning and make a gorgeous backdrop for photographs.

FAQ / Portugal WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

How early do you arrive for weddings in Portugal?

I usually touch down in Portugal about two days before the wedding. It gives me a chance to shake off the travel fatigue, soak up some of that amazing Portuguese atmosphere, and scout out some killer locations for your photos. Portugal's got this incredible mix of old-world charm and stunning coastlines - I love finding those special spots that'll make your album pop. I typically jet off the day after your celebration, once all the wine and pastéis de nata have been enjoyed!

02.

What about extra costs for a Portuguese wedding?

Yeah, there are some additional expenses, but I keep it pretty simple. For my biggest package with two photographers, it's a flat rate of £900 on top to cover flights, accommodation, car rental, and all those bits and bobs. If you go for my popular package, it's an extra £650. These prices are specifically for Portugal - if you're thinking about tying the knot somewhere further afield, just give me a shout and we can talk it through.

How do we go about booking you for our big day in Portugal?

Just shoot me an email or give me a ring to check if your date's still open in my calendar. If it is, awesome! Now, to lock it in properly, there's a bit of paperwork. You'll need to put down a 20% deposit - can't give that back I'm afraid, but it means I'm all yours for that day. Then there's just a quick contract to sign online. Nothing too fancy, just the usual stuff to make sure we're on the same page. I'll need the travel expenses paid about seven months before the wedding so I can sort out flights and accommodation. The remaining balance is due a month before your ceremony under the Portuguese sun!

Why should we choose you over a local Portuguese photographer?

If you've seen my photos and love 'em, you know what you'll get. But hey, don't just take my word for it - have a look at some local Portuguese photographers too. It's your big day, after all. Go with whoever clicks with you, whether that's me or someone who knows all the hidden spots in Portugal. The most important thing is that you're over the moon with your photos. Plus, if you've fallen for my portfolio, you know exactly what you're getting. That said, definitely check out some local talent too. At the end of the day, it's your celebration, and you need to go with whoever really gets your vision, whether that's me or a photographer based in Portugal.
